Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2022) – David Gravel pocketed a pair of top-five finishes last weekend during the Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway.
It helped the Big Game Motorsports driver close the gap in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship standings to only 66 points with a month remaining in the season.
Gravel was efficient both nights at the half-mile oval, where he kicked off the doubleheader on Friday by qualifying fifth quickest in his group. A third-place result in a heat race narrowly missed a spot in the dash and lined the team up on the inside of the fifth row in the A Main. Gravel gained a handful of positions for a fifth-place result.
Saturday showed a step forward as Gravel set quick time during qualifying before winning a heat race. A fourth-place outing in the dash started him on the outside of the second row in the main event. He climbed a position to place third – his 37th top five of the season.
The final weekend of the season in the Midwest is on tap with World of Outlaws races on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the Lakeside Speedway Showdown presented by Micro-Lite.
