I race a 360 sprint car at Knoxville Raceway weekly. This week was Twin Features for the 360 class. The first A feature ran like any ordinary week and then they have a second A feature. The second A feature is inverted based on the results of the first feature. I finished 11th in the first feature and started 12th in the second second feature. The track was rough and dusty. We got through turn one and two, then I took off down the backstretch going about 120mph into turn 3. There was a guy that had blown his motor in front of me. The car that had blown up caused cars to dive all over the track to miss him and I came into turn three going full speed with no where to go. I hit one of the cars that collided with the car off the pace and then another car hit me after that. I flipped violently multiple times and came to a rest right side up. The Knoxville Raceway Fire and Safety crew responded extremely quick. Few minutes later they had me getting out of the car. I got out on my own with a little bit of help from the rescue team and they didn’t have to cut my roll cage. Next thing I knew I was at the Knoxville Hospital getting checked out. They got my suit off me and called a helicopter to be sent and I was taken to Methodist Hospital, in Des Moines. From there I had many scans on me and found out I had a broken arm, shattered ulna, and many lacerations. Im expecting to make a full recovery with the help of physical therapy and am anxious to return to sprint car racing at Knoxville Raceway in 2013. As of today July 2, 2012 I have a few things that need to be done in order to get out today. I have been up and walking around. I am just very sore and tight. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
