Bill Balog and B2 Motorsports: A Rough Start with a 3rd Place Finish at Beaver Dam Raceway
Union Grove, WI – June 20, 2012. Bill Balog and the B2 Motorsports team headed to the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI this past weekend for their second visit of the year at the facility. With the hot and breezy conditions, teams were fighting to find traction as the track would dry out right off the bat. Bill would qualify about a third way through the 29 competitors on hand and lay down a lap of 13.823 seconds which would be good enough for 5th quick lining him up in the 5th starting position of the 2nd heat race. Bill would run in the 5th and final transfer position throughout the whole heat race. On the final lap, Bill would continue to run in the 5th position, but had a run on the 4th place competitor so attempted a slide job in turns 3 and 4, but would run out of track and tag the wall and also collect another car sending the crew to thrash to get the car back together to race the B-main. Bill was scheduled to start in the 2nd position, but would be late to staging due to the crew finishing getting the car back together and would have to tag the field in the 13th starting position. After a few laps of feeling the car out, Bill would take the 17B sprinter to the front and finish in the 2nd position behind Robbie Pribnow. At the drop of the green, Bill would hang around his 11th place starting position for a while once again feeling the car out to make sure everything was good to go before he would start his charge forward. By the second caution of the night on lap 18 Bill had made his way up to the 5th position. Bill would pick up 2 – more positions before the checkered flag flew ending the long and hot night at the Beaver Dam Raceway in the 3rd position behind race winner Mike Kertscher and 2nd place Mike Reinke.

Bill lost some ground in the points standings, but still maintains the point lead over Mike Reinke by 4 points heading into this weekend’s Friday night event. Bill and B2 Motorsports team will head north up Highway 41 this weekend on Friday, June 22nd for the 1st of 2 visits to the 1/3 mile track of the Oshkosh Speedzone in Oshkosh, WI. Bill picked up a victory and a 2nd place finish at the facility last season with the Interstate Racing Association.
