Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Aug. 22, 2022) – Sides Motorsports driver Robbie Price posted his second-best result of the season last Saturday afternoon during the 44th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals.
Rain cancelled the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event opener on Thursday and postponed Friday’s preliminary night to Saturday afternoon. Price kicked off the action by qualifying 10th quickest in his group and finishing fifth in a heat race to lock into the main event.
He then maneuvered from 19th to 13th in the feature. The half-dozen positions gained were the third most for any driver during the A Main.
“The day show wasn’t too bad,” he said. “The track rubbered up so you just had to get in line. I was good in the rubber coming off turn two. You had to make what you could on restarts. On one I felt like I passed four or five cars and then got in line.”
The nightcap began several hours later with Price timing in eighth quickest out of the 40 drivers. He then finished where he started – seventh – in a heat race to garner the 17th-most combined points. That locked him into the 17th starting position in the main event.
“I felt really good, but everyone was the same pace,” he said. “I should have ran one spot or maybe two spots better in the heat race. There was a restart halfway and I couldn’t get going. That would have started me further up in the feature. Track position was key. The track was a little bit racier, but everyone was the same speed so it was pretty tough to make passes.”
Price was credited with a 17th-place result.
“I think I’m getting a little better,” he said. “I think a lot of it is my starts and restarts. We always have decent speed for who I’m racing around. I need to get up on the wheel, but I felt good both times at Jackson.”
This weekend features World of Outlaws races on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., for the Second Leg of the Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., for the Duel in the Dakotas.
“We’re back on the short track stuff, which is my style,” he said. “The last time we were on a short track we ran good the first half of the night. I’m excited to get back to the stuff I know.”
