Cottage Grove, Oregon- Wednesday, August 17th, was the second straight night of racing at Cottage Grove Speedway. It marked the third round of the 2022 Week of Speed for the Interstate Sprint Car Series and Dwarf Cars. Cars and teams representing the states of Oregon, Washington, and California were in the pits and the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Shane Forte charged to the point on the opening start of the Interstate Sprint Car Series main event. However, the Junction City driver had to deal with a pair of restarts in the first seven laps due to stoppages. On the restart, he was overtaken by Tanner Holmes.

Holmes, from Jacksonville, took control of P1 on the eighth circuit. The race went non-stop and featured heavy-lapped traffic. Despite navigating the field's tail end, Holmes dominated the rest of the distance to win his first race of the week. It is his fourth career Week of Speed victory and the second occasion he has won at CGS.

Central Point's Jake Wheeler, racing for car owner Roger Henderson, was the runner-up, while Steven Snawder of Roseburg grabbed third in the final laps. Luke Didiuck, from Wannock, British Columbia, and racing for Johnson Girls Racing, was fourth over fifth finishing Axel Oudman of Sedro Woolley, Washington.

For the Dwarf Cars, it was again domination from Danny Wagner of Bay Point, California. Danny obtained the lead position on lap three after overtaking Lotus, California's Shawn Whitney. There would only be two cautions during the race, but Wagner was brilliant on restarts and open race track each time. Danny Wagner became the first repeat winner of the week as he earned his second straight victory.

Chris Kress, from Roseburg, was again runner-up, with third place going to Grants Pass native Devin La Horgue. Tigard's Shane Younger and Shawn Whitney were the rest of the top five finishers in fourth and fifth.

Cottage Grove Speedway will be in action on Saturday, August 27th, for the Herz Precision Parts Wingless Nationals and Back To School Night. The evening will feature the Wingless Sprint Series, IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Royalty Core Custom Grill And Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods, and IMCA Sport Compacts.
