Inside Line Promotions – BENTON RIDGE, Ohio (Aug. 8, 2022) – Greg Wilson is bound for the Midwest this week to tackle the 61st annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s.
Wilson’s preliminary night during the marquee event hosted by Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, is Thursday with the spectacle running through Saturday.
“Any time I’ve went in and expected much it usually backfires,” the Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics sponsored Seeling Motorsports driver said. “I feel like this year more than any we’ll try to treat it like any other race. Obviously it’s a huge event and the fact that Hercules Tires is involved with the Knoxville Nationals it’s great to go out there and help them promote the brand as well as compete with the best teams and racers around the world.”
This week marks the first time Wilson will visit the half-mile dirt oval since the Knoxville Nationals last year.
“We haven’t been very good on half miles so we’ve changed some stuff around,” he said. “We weren’t too bad at Knoxville at the end of last year. I’m hoping we can start off a little better. It’s pretty tough when you go to a place like that where you don’t race very often, especially with that level of competition. Hopefully we can roll out of the box well, draw a good pill and be competitive every time we hit the track. With that many cars it takes really being on your game and a little bit of luck to be successful.”
Wilson kicked off the 2021 Knoxville Nationals by earning his best feature result at Knoxville Raceway since August 2005. He placed 14th during the preliminary night feature before capping the event with a 10th-place finish in the D Main.
