Nevada, Mo:
Saturday night the cars and stars of the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprint Cars invaded Nevada Speedway for night number 2 of a Midwest Wingless double header with Nixa, Missouri, hot shoe Wesley Smith taking the win in the John Helm Racing 12. For Smith it was his 2nd win in the series in 2022 after taking the lid lifter at US 36 earlier this season. While also winning his 8th feature all-time with the MWRA.
It was a hard fought victory for Smith as he held off a 22 car field that included second place Quinton Benson of Sweet Springs, Missouri, still seeking his first win in the series after several 2nd place finishes. While Topekas Wyatt Burks driving the Rumsey 11w finished off a great weekend of racing by finishing in 3rd place. And Gladstone’s Chris Parkinson capped off his weekend with another top 5 running 4th, with KCMO driver Tom Curran completing the top 5.
Oak Grove, Missouri’s Brian Scott Beebe Tonganoxie’s A.J. Gilbert, Overland Park’s Luke Howard, and Warren Wojo Johnson, as well as Kearney’s Zach Sanders, would round out the top 10. While Wojo running for Rick Smith & Deb Deb Maycock-Smith, would take the JDL Justin Lawson Media hard charger award advancing from 18th to 9th in the 25 lapper.
Earlier in the evening. Benson, Sanders, and Parkinson would take heat race wins. The USAC MWRA Sprint Cars will next be in action Friday night September 2nd when this USAC series returns to US 36 Speedway for a second appearance in 2022.
