Inside Line Promotions – HARTFORD, Ohio (Aug. 3, 2022) – Greg Wilson highlighted last weekend with a fourth-place finish at Sharon Speedway.
It marked his best result at the track since September 2005 and was the seventh top five of the season for the Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics sponsored Seeling Motorsports driver.
“I felt like we were decent at Sharon,” he said. “I realize it wasn’t an All Star race, but we were way more competitive than we’ve been there.”
Wilson qualified second quickest in his group before he placed third in a heat race. He battled for a podium throughout the feature before ending fourth.
“I felt if the race went green to checkered we’d have a shot to win,” he said. “We got to second and caught the leader in traffic, but a caution came out. After a couple of late restarts George (Hobaugh) and (Dan) Shetler got rolling pretty good through the middle of the track and we weren’t that good. All in all, I felt like as bad as we’ve been there, I was okay leaving there with a top five.”
It was a good ending to a weekend that began with a crash during the opening lap of a heat race on Friday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.
“To be honest it ruined our night,” he said. “We didn’t think it hurt anything. In the feature we passed a few cars, but we just weren’t very good. We were up and sliding. The track got really slick, which usually we’re good at that type. It was just one of those deals where the next day Andy found some stuff that was damaged and that explained our struggle.”
Wilson advanced from 15th to 10th in the feature for his second top 10 of the season at the track.
The team plans to take this weekend off before heading to the Midwest next week to race in the 61st annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s, which runs Aug. 10-13 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
