Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2022) – Garet Williamson hustled from 21st to a seventh-place result last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway during his final appearance at the half-mile oval prior to the upcoming 360 Knoxville Nationals.
The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver qualified seventh quickest in his group before placing fifth in a heat race.
“We built a brand new car,” he said. “We qualified decent, but in our heat race I didn’t feel good at all. We came up with some ideas of what to change and us being in the B Main worked out well for us. We were really good and didn’t really change much going into the A Main.”
Williamson won the consolation race to transfer into the back of the main event.
“I had a really good race car to run wherever,” he said. “Normally we’ve started toward the front. It was nice to show we can start toward the back and be just as fast.”
Williamson’s 14 positions gained were the most of any driver to garner the Hard Charger Award. The seventh-place result was the team’s sixth top 10 of the season at Knoxville Raceway.
Next up is a return to the track for the 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, which runs this Thursday through Saturday. Williamson’s preliminary night is Thursday.
“I feel really good,” he said. “I want to lock in and be a front runner in the A Main on Saturday. It all starts with what you draw on your prelim night. All your cards have to play out right. You have to qualify well, pass some cars in your heat race and have a strong run in the A Main to get good points going into Saturday night.”
