Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (Aug. 2, 2022) – Trey Starks reached the double-digit wins mark for the second time in his career thanks to a triumph at Skagit Speedway last Saturday.

The victory also likely secured the 410ci winged sprint car track championship at the high-banked dirt oval, which only has the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series weekend – a show-up points event – remaining on the schedule for the division.

“It was a little bit of an up-and-down night,” Starks said. “We were decent in qualifying and timed in second quickest, which wasn’t terrible because we went out last. In the heat race we were off in left field. Something was wrong and the car wasn’t driving the way it was supposed to.”

Starks placed fourth in the heat race and advanced into the dash.

“The dice roll put us on the pole for the dash,” he said. “We made some changes and won the dash, but it still wasn’t comfortable to drive. We went through everything before the feature and found out some things wrong in the front end. We got that straightened out and it was a lot better for the feature.

“We got the lead on the opening lap. It was smooth sailing after that. The race went green to checkered with no cautions. I ran the bottom for the first half of the race. When I got to traffic I started moving around. It was probably the most I had to move around at Skagit this year.”

Starks led the distance for his sixth victory of the season at Skagit Speedway and second in the 410 division.

“I want to thank the Wheatley Family and Morrison Racing Engines for loaning me a motor during Dirt Cup and last Saturday to be able to race,” he said. “I’m glad we were able to capitalize on another solid night.”

Starks plans on taking the next couple of weeks off before returning to Skagit Speedway on Aug. 27.
