TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen look ahead to Knoxville’s Capitani Classic

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (August 1, 2022) - Although TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen may have missed main event action on Saturday night, joining the All Star Circuit of Champions for their first and only Knoxville Raceway visit of the season, the Mitchellville, Iowa-based open wheel team used the evening as a proper test session, aiming big for upcoming starts in Knoxville’s annual Capitani Classic and Knoxville Nationals.

Madsen, driver of Troy Renfro’s Albaugh LLC, Iowa Barnstormers, deWit Construction, Jersey Freeze, JR-1, No. 2KS sprint car, joined a field of 55 for the All Star invasion on Saturday night, kicking things off with the sixth-fastest qualifying time in his respective group. The St. Mary’s, NSW, Australia, native would go on to finish fifth in his heat, missing a transfer by one position, all before racing on to finish seventh in the All Star B-Main. Not helping their cause, a bad initial start call on Madsen at the beginning of the evening’s B-Main pushed him back a row; he had to restart eighth rather than sixth.

“We’re still learning about this JR-1 car, but we learned a lot on Saturday and we plan to put it to good use on Sunday at the Capi,” Troy Renfro, owner of the familiar No. 2KS, stated. “It’s been a trying year for our team, but we never give up. A few great nights during the Capitani Classic and Knoxville Nationals will change a lot of perceptions. All we can do is keep working hard and the results will come. We know Ian has the ability to turn some heads.”

ON DECK:
TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen will continue their 2022 campaign with Knoxville Raceway’s annual Capitani Classic on Sunday, August 7; a preamble to the coveted Knoxville Nationals which kicks-off Wednesday, August 10.
