Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 26, 2022) – Jordon Mallett is participating in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek, which continues this week with five straight nights of racing in the Midwest.

“We had kicked it around and considered it,” he said. “A lot of it came down to what it’d look like weather-wise. Times are a little tough so you have to race when you can race. We had a decent weekend last weekend when we didn’t kill too many tires so we could run the Speedweek deal. When they postponed the race last Thursday it made it more lucrative because that’s only 30 minutes out of the way just to run the Wednesday show. The schedule worked out well to go from track to track so it’s hard to pass up racing several nights in a row.”

The Speedweek opener last Thursday at Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, Okla., was postponed to Tuesday. The remaining races are Wednesday at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.; Thursday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.; Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; and Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla.

Mallett kicked off Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek last Friday at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, Ark., where he earned his first top five of the season with the ASCS National Tour. Mallett timed in third quickest in his group and finished second in a heat race to garner the pole position for the feature following a favorable inversion.

“We were pretty good early on,” he said. “I knew I had a good car, but we were too good too early. I thought momentum around the top was going to be key. I was wrong. I led the first third of the race setting a good pace around the top. The bottom just came in. That’s the worst thing about being the leader is sometimes you are a sitting duck. I didn’t know it was laying rubber around the bottom. By the time I was able to get myself worked down we were in fourth and just rode around in that spot from there.”

Mallett’s fourth-place finish was his ninth top five of the season.

I-30 Speedway hosted the second round of Speedweek on Saturday. Mallett timed in third quickest in his group and placed fourth in a heat race before finishing where he started – 14th – in the feature.

“It was disappointing on Saturday,” he said. “I qualified decent, but didn’t have a good heat race. In the feature we were okay. I felt pretty good, but we were plagued by cautions. It seemed my car would take off after three or four laps and I was running a line that others weren’t. However, it felt like every time I’d get going we had another caution. Sometimes those nights just happen where things don’t work out.”
