Knoxville, IA - 16 year-old Omaha teen, Dakota Hendrickson, posted his best finish of the season on Knoxville's historic half-mile finishing 3rd in his 5th sprint car race of the season. This was the rookie sprint car racer's second top 5 and third top 10 finish of the year as he posted a 3rd place finish last month at Bloomfield Speedway in the Cold Truth Busch Light Winged 305 Super Series.
"It felt good to put the Dead Down Wind, Manarin Investment, CyTech car on the podium here at Knoxville. All our major sponsors were here to watch us tonight and I was really pleased we could post a good finish", Dakota said. "It was especially satisfying since we were collected in a crash by two other cars in the first race of the season here and destroyed our first car."
Dakota went on to say, "I thought for a moment we could run second. On that last restart we were 3rd and I followed Matt Steltzer and Mike Van Haaften into one. I closed too quickly on Matt coming out of turn two when he ran out of fuel, which caught me off guard and Bob Hildreth and several others got around us. I was just glad to be able to fight back to 3rd place."
The 305's return to Knoxville on June 16th.
