12th at I 96 for Stewart

PETERSEN MEDIA- Fighting Mother Nature all weekend, Shane Stewart and his 3G Racing team went to war with the World of Outlaws as they invaded the I 96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI and recorded a 12th place finish.

After being rained out Friday night in Attica, a storm cell headed toward the I 96 Speedway and drenched the track just prior to the drivers meeting, causing a delay to the start of the festivities and creating a lighting fast track.

With 26 cars on hand, Stewart timed his Red Line Oil/All Star Performance/XYZ Machine backed entry in with the 11th fastest lap of the night, putting him on the pole of the second heat.

Storming to the heat race win, Stewart transferred into the dash, and started and finished 10th putting him in the 10th starting spot for the 35-lap feature event.

Gridding the field from the fifth row, things didn’t go Stewart’s way early as he slipped back into the 12th spot early on what was a rapidly moving feature event.

Only one caution plagued the event, and the restart saw Stewart try to work back inside the top-10 but it worked to no avail as he slipped back to the 12th spot as he battled with Sammy Swindell for the 11th spot.

At the stripe Stewart came home in the 12th spot, but was not to thrilled with the result.

“We had a better car than a 12th place finish,” said Shane. “Joe Gaerte and Tim Norman worked hard on this thing, and gave me a pretty good car, and I went the wrong direction. The track was pretty fast, and we were plenty fast, but hopefully I can get them back where this car belongs soon.”

Shane and the 3G Motorsports team would like to thank Red Line Oil, Media Tile, DDNi, XYZ Machine, Gaerte Engines, All Star Performance, KPC Chassis, and SST Shocks for their continued support.

ON TAP: Stewart will now fly to California to team back up with Paul Silva for a busy stint out west kicking off Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA as they kick off “The Road to Dirt Cup”.
