Inside Line Promotions – DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 13, 2022) – Garet Williamson scored a pair of top fives last weekend in the state of Iowa.

Williamson timed in seventh quickest in the Bryant Paver Motorsports No. 24 sprint car on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville before he won a heat race from the fourth starting position.

“We qualified a little too late to be first or second, but in the heat race we did what we needed to do,” he said. “We just got hit by an unfavorable feature inversion.”

The feature inversion lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“The track was super heavy throughout the feature and was bottom dominant,” he said. “I got one guy on the start and then got under Kaleb Johnson somewhere early in the race. I feel like there wasn’t too much more we could do.”

Williamson’s fourth-place finish was his third top five of the season at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

He then made his debut at Lee County Speedway on Sunday during a POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint League event that had been postponed from late last week because of the weather. Williamson timed in seventh quickest and he won a heat race for the second straight night.

“I didn’t qualify well, but we did what we needed in the heat race again,” he said. “I think I was too conservative for a lot of the feature. I fell back to fifth early in the race. The top became really good and we were really good up there. I could keep my momentum built up. I think if I had ran harder from the start we could have done even better.”

Williamson rallied for a third-place result.

The team returns to action this Thursday at Bloomfield Speedway in Bloomfield, Iowa, with the Sprint Invaders. They will also compete on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Williamson will add a fourth straight race by piloting a midget for Dan Minear on Sunday at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo., with the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League.
