Cole Vanderheiden thundered into Huset's Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) on Friday night for an IMCA Race Saver Sprint Car that was held in conjunction with a USAC Sprint Car program.
Cole slipped from third to fifth in his heat race, which locked him into the 13th-starting spot for the feature.
The 20-lap finale found Vanderheiden initially crossing the finish line in ninth, but he was promoted to an eighth-place finish after the race was disqualified in post race tech.
Cole celebrated his 15th birthday on Saturday with a trip to Eagle (Neb.) Raceway for a Weekly Racing Series Event. Twenty-eight cars entered the event, and his night began with him slipping from the third-starting spot to a sixth-place finish in his heat race.
As a result Vanderheiden had to run a B-Main, where he finished second to earn the 17th-starting spot for the night's feature. On a rough surface he was able to advance to a 13th-place finish.
