Cole Vanderheiden kicked off his Fourth of July weekend of racing on Thursday night at U.S. 30 Speedway (Columbus, Neb.). With 17 IMCA Race Saver Sprint Cars entered into the program, Cole notched a runner-up finish in his heat race.
Starting 10th in the feature, Vanderheiden advanced a single position to a ninth-place finish on a very slick surface.
Action shifted to Crawford County Speedway (Denison, Iowa) on Friday night, where Cole hit the ground running with a heat race win. Starting second in the 15-lap feature he raced in the Top-5 throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in third behind Mike Houseman Jr. and Jake Greenwood with Max Roseland and Bret Klabunde rounding out the Top-5 finishers.
On Saturday night Cole was one of 31 entries at Eagle (Neb.) Raceway, and he started and finished second in his heat race.
Starting fourth in the feature Vanderheiden learned with each passing lap as he tested the waters of the high side of the 1/3-mile oval. Building his confidence throughout the feature he crossed the finish line in 14th.
