Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (June 27, 2022) – Jack Dover made the A Main during the first crown jewel of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series summer last weekend at Huset’s Speedway.

Dover piloted a sprint car for Chris and Rick Bowers throughout four straight nights at the track, beginning on Wednesday when Dover finished fifth in the Last Chance Showdown – only one spot out of making the main event during the Ace Ready Mix/Myrl & Roy’s presents the World of Outlaws.

“On Wednesday we missed it by one,” he said. “It’s a good feeling to know you’re that close and have room to grow. On Thursday we were in the same spot running fifth in the B Main. There was a late caution. I went up top to try to get myself into the top four and ended up losing four spots. I knew we were close again. On Friday we just missed the setup. We had a shock go bad in time trials. Nothing went right the whole night.”

A ninth-place result in the Last Chance Showdown on Thursday opened the Huset’s High Bank Nationals. Dover then finished 20th in the consolation race on Friday. That lined him up on the outside of the fourth row in a qualifier on Saturday.

“Come Saturday I went through the entire car and made sure everything was squared up and right,” he said. “We found some stuff to make it better. I talked to some people about shocks, ride height and some of the setup stuff, and we made some good changes to the car.”

Dover narrowly missed disaster during an early crash when a fellow competitor flipped in front of him.

“We got lucky and through that accident that happened,” he said. “It damaged both of our wings. When it did that I just stuck the bottom the rest of the race. My car was working really, really good. When you can pass someone like Spencer Bayston you know your car is working pretty decent.”

Dover hustled for one of the top-four lock-in positions and he used a last-lap pass to secure a third-place result. That earned a spot into the $100,000-to-win main event.

“I ran five or six laps, but my car was way too tight,” he said. “I knew we were going to be lapped traffic real quick and didn’t want to be that guy who held someone up for $100,000. I’ve been in that situation where you’re trying to win a race and a lapped car is in the way. I just didn’t want to be that person so I pulled off early.

“Overall, it was a good week. We didn’t reach our goal of making the A Main every night, but we still made one and it was the big one. If you look at the big picture there were almost 50 people there and we were one of the drivers who made the big show.”

Dover plans to return to his No. 53 this Friday at Boone County Raceway in Albion, Neb., where he will race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
