Inside Line Promotions – MOUNT POCONO, Pa. (June 27, 2022) – Joey Amantea returns to Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars competition this Saturday at Bridgeport Motorsports Park.
The race at the dirt track in Swedesboro, N.J., marks the first event for the series in approximately one month. However, Amantea was able to log successful laps in a 410ci non-wing sprint car during that time off.
“I think our 360 deal will be really good now,” he said. “I learned you can drive it so much harder. I’m going to take the knowledge from that and apply it to the 360. We’ll change the setup a bit to try some stuff to make the car better, just to dig into the track more. I think we’ll be faster than we have been and be able to compete for the win.
“I know we can win. We’re not looking for top fives. We’re going after wins. I believe it’s possible with the podiums and top fives we have this year.”
Amantea has earned a top five during each of the last three years of USAC East Coast Sprint Cars action at Bridgeport Motorsports Park. He has posted results of sixth and four, respectively, this season.
“We’ve had very good success there,” he said. “The way the track is has always worked for me. It takes me back to the micro days at some of the bigger tracks where you can throttle them and keep your momentum up.”
Amantea enters this week’s race ranked fourth in the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars championship standings.
