Cole Vanderheiden "choo choo'd" into another weekend of IMCA Race Saver Sprint Car action. Entering the weekend leading the national Rookie of the Year standings and setting fourth in the overall standings, action kicked off at Crawford County Speedway (Denison, Iowa).
With 14 entries on hand, Cole started on the pole of his heat race before finishing third to earn the pole for the feature. Unfortunately mechanical gremlins bit him in the main event as he was relegated to a 13th-place finish with a broken rear end and driveshaft.
The team rolled into Eagle (Neb.) Raceway on Saturday for another Weekly Racing Series Event. As usual a talent laden field of competitors was on hand at the 1/3-mile oval, and Cole started and finish second in his heat race to lock into the sixth-starting spot for the feature.
In the main event Vanderheiden battled challenging track conditions as well as the handle on his No. 15v to ultimately record a 17th-place finish.
