Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (June 21, 2022) – Elizabeth Phillips has recorded several strong moments throughout the start of the summer.

Phillips posted a top-10 result during her debut at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., on May 9 and she garnered valuable experience invading multiple tracks in the Midwest prior to a breakout moment last Friday.

Phillips advanced from eighth to sixth place in both a heat race and the main event during an ASCS Sooner Region race at The New Tulsa Speedway in Tulsa, Okla. It marked her first ASCS feature start.

“We just went to run with them to see if everything with our new engine was going to run before we traveled so that we wouldn’t have issues,” she said. “The team as a whole went into it not really looking for anything big out of the night. We drew the No. 71 out of 72 pills. We had to already start in the back of our heat race just to make sure everything was well so at least we got to keep our passing points.

“We gained two spots in the heat race and made the feature redraw. Making the redraw was a big deal to all of us because honestly I didn’t think we’d be that high. From the start of the feature we had to keep our nose clean. We were able to pick off a couple of cars through the middle of the race. I think lapped traffic helped us a lot. We ran fifth until the last lap when we got passed in a mishap and finished sixth.”

Despite racing her 305ci engine with the 360ci division, Phillips battled for her fifth top 10 of the season.

“I think it’s going pretty good,” she said. “As of right now we have momentum under us. We’re adjusting to getting back to the main car since we’ve been in the backup car for so long. It was a confidence booster to contend for a top five throughout the ASCS race knowing I was underpowered and competing against drivers who have been doing this for a long time. I think we can take that confidence moving forward.

“I think we’ll run a couple more races with ASCS with our 305. I think we still need more laps in the 305 because it is our first full season and we’re new to everything, but it gave us the confidence that we can be competitive.”

Phillips plans on competing this Friday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., and Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla., with the AmeriFlex OCRS IMCA Sprint Cars. She enters the weekend ranked ninth in the championship standings despite missing the most recent race.
