Cole Vanderheiden kicked off his IMCA Race Saver Sprint Car weekend on Friday night at Iowa's Crawford County Speedway. On a heavy-and-fast track, Cole started and finished fifth in his heat race, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the night's feature.
In the feature Vanderheiden battled the setup as he slid backwards to an 11th-place finish. It wasn't the night that the team wanted, but Cole was thankful to at least load the car in one piece.
Saturday night action had the team scheduled to return to Eagle (Neb.) Raceway, but Mother Nature had other ideas as the program fell victim to Mother Nature.
Sunday night action brought Cole to Husets Speedway (Brandon, S.D.), where he started the night with a heat race win from the second-starting spot. In the 25-lap main event he slipped from the fifth-starting spot to an eighth-place finish.
