Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (June 7, 2022) – Jack Dover nearly swept the night last Friday at I-80 Speedway before mechanical woes arrived in the closing laps.
Dover hustled from fifth to win a heat race and he nearly bested that performance after driving from the sixth starting position into the lead in the A Main.
“I got the lead on the first lap,” he said. “I was running the bottom and Jason Martin passed me. I moved up and about four laps after following him a yellow came out. On the restart I slid him in turns three and four and led for about the next 10 laps. We broke a rod with about six laps to go while leading, but I got lucky it isn’t bad.”
Dover was credited with a 12th-place result.
“We were really, really good,” he said. “They were pushing us through the features. We couldn’t find the stagger we wanted so we threw something on there. The tires weren’t cut so I was nervous about that. To go out and do what we did before the DNF was pretty good.”
Dover plans to return to action this Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., where a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event last Sunday was postponed until June 22. That sets up four straight nights of World of Outlaws action at the track that week.
The previous weekend also showcases a tripleheader with two races at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., followed by a night at Huset’s Speedway during The Battle Border.
“This Sunday is our last weekly race before a couple of big weeks of 410 racing,” Dover said. “Qualifying is critical so that’s an area where we can improve. Getting the right gear in the car and turning consistent laps is the key to success.”
