Jack Vanderboom Earns Top 10 in First 410 Sprint Outing in 2022

Jack Vanderboom Earns Top 10 in First 410 Sprint Outing in 2022

Jack Vanderboom and Fast Jack Racing impressed last season in just four 410 Sprint Car starts, and plans were made to expand their 410 schedule in 2022. In Jack’s first outing in the 900+ HP cars this year at Rice Lake Speedway, the 18 Year Old did more than impress and cemented his place amongst the “Best of the Upper Midwest.”

The Bluemound Express Moving & Storage U2 car was on rails from the outset on Saturday night, with Vanderboom clocking in the 5th fastest overall Qualifying time with a lap of 14.595, just over a tenth of a second off of Russel Borland’s Quick Time of 14.420. This meant all Jack had to do was finish in the Top 5 of his heat race and the Dousman, WI native would transfer into the night’s Dash Redraw.

Vanderboom lined up 3rd in his 8 lap heat race and quickly solidified himself in that position ahead of 4th running Dave Uttech. Jack ripped through the middle of the ? mile moderate banked oval, unaware the bottom groove was picking up steam and Uttech slipped by the U2 machine before a yellow flag flew for a spinning Kurt Davis.

The heat race restarted and Vanderboom now found the hooked up low line and drove back by the 68 of Uttech and stayed in that 3rd position for the remaining 3 circuits to punch his ticket to his first career IRA Dash Redraw.

In front of a huge crop of spectators at Rice Lake and more watching at home on FloRacing, Jack pulled 4th in Dash 2 in the Night’s Redraw. The 4 lap sprint saw Vanderboom fall victim to eventual A Main winner Scotty Neitzel and dropped to 5th place, which earned him a 10th place starting spot in the night’s 30 lap A Main.

Jack once again had spirited battles in the A Main with Uttech, the 5J of Jeremy Schultz, the 26 of Tyler Tischendorf and the 9K of Kyle Schuett. Using both the top and bottom lanes, Vanderboom picked up 2 places before the halfway point. When the track took rubber with around 10 laps to go, Vanderboom started to close in on 7th running Jeremy Schultz and nearly completed the pass on a final Green-White-Checkered restart, but was forced to settle for 8th place at the final flag. An unbelievably strong result in Jack’s first outing with the IRA in 2022.

“Saturday was an awesome night.” Jack said about the evening’s events. “Making the dash and bringing home a Top 10 was incredible for our first time out in that car this year. We know we have the speed to compete in the Top 10 now, and I hope we can continue to do that when we run with the 410’s more this season. Our goal is just to be consistent every night and keep learning before we hope to take on a full 410 schedule next year!”

Fast Jack Racing will take on a doubleheader this weekend. Saturday will see Jack return to 360 Sprint competition at the Plymouth Dirt Track with the MSA Sprint Cars, then Sunday the Bluemound Express Racing Team will head to Angell Park Speedway and race the Zane Racing #77 Midget with the Badger Midgets. Jack has run two Midget events so far this season, with a best finish of 13th on May 22nd.
