Gunnar Setser enjoyed some great runs over the extended Memorial Day weekend in both his Winged and Non-Winged Micros.
The weekend opened on Saturday night at Southern Illinois Raceway (Marion, Ill.) with action in both the Prairie Farms Non-Wing Outlaws and Driven Performance Midwest Winged Outlaws.
In the Non-Wing Outlaw division Gunnar finished second in his heat race to earn the fourth-starting spot for the feature. He would go on to finish fourth in the feature behind Tyler Kuykendall, Matt Veatch, and Aiden Purdue.
In Wing Outlaw competition, 31 entries were on hand, and Gunnar raced from fourth-to-second in his heat race to lock into the second-starting spot for the feature. He raced in the Top-5 throughout the finale before crossing the finish line in fifth behind Garrett Benson, Craig Ronk, Willie Urish, and Tyler Rust.
On Sunday evening the action shifted to Wayne County Speedway (Wayne City, Illinois), where Setser again pulled double duty.
In Outlaw Non-Wing action Setser finished fifth in his heat race before charging from 14th to seventh in the feature.
Meanwhile, Outlaw Winged Micro competition saw Gunnar advance two spots to a runner-up finish in his heat race. Via his heat performance he was positioned second on the starting gird for the feature. He had high hopes for the main event, but unfortunately would be an early retiree to a 16th-place finish.
