BRANDON, SD - (May 27, 2022) It's been a long wait for the rookie driver Aydin Lloyd, but finally the Brandon, SD based racer will make his career debut on Saturday in Norfolk, NE.
"It's been difficult to start the season" says Lloyd. "Everyone is going through the same stuff right now. It's hard to find parts, it's hard to find tires, and everything is more expensive." That hasn't deterred the young wheelman, though. He's got the car together, it has stickers, paint, an engine, and four tires. Most importantly, he's driven to learn, to race, and to grow in the sport.
"Obviously night 1 comes with nerves and a little anxiety, but I also am prepared for this. I've been working on sprint cars for a few years, and we've had some real success as a team with Blaine Stegenga at Huset's. I've proven I can turn wrenches and I'm really excited about the season we can have that way, but I also can't wait to actually race myself. I've been dreaming about being behind the wheel for a long time. Now it's my turn to prove what I can do." Aydin is also quick to recognize the situation is still new for him, saying "While I'm excited to strap in, I'm also aware that this is still a chance to just turn laps and learn about what the car is doing and what I'm doing behind the wheel. I need laps. All young drivers need laps."
The Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, NE will be the site of the event. The pits open at 3, but fans wanting to go will see their gates open at 5:15pm. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:15 with racing at roughly 7pm. You can find more information about the event on the MyRacePass app or on http://www.offroadspeedway.com/.
