Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (May 17, 2022) – Greg Wilson drove to a pair of top 10s last weekend with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions.
The Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed Seeling Motorsports driver hustled from 19th to 10th on Friday in Michigan before earning a seventh-place result the ensuing night in Ohio.
The stout weekend began on Friday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., where Wilson qualified 26th quickest overall. He advanced a position to place eighth in a heat race before winning the B Main from the sixth starting position. The night concluded with Wilson tying for the second-most positions gained after his 10th-place effort.
“We’re really working to be good,” he said. “We did some stuff a little different hot lapping. We left it on the car and then took it back off later in the night. We got our race car pretty good and ran up to 10th from a little ways back. It was great that we recovered from a poor qualifying effort the way we did.”
Wilson also moved forward on Saturday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. He timed in 18th quickest, but a rally from sixth to third in a heat race locked him into the 10th starting position in the A Main.
“We were mediocre qualifying and then we raced well all night,” he said. “In the feature we got up to like fifth, but at the end of the race we faded a little and lost a couple of spots. I feel like normally we’re really good at the end of races. We were a little better at the beginning, but not the end, which is the opposite of how it’s typically gone.”
Wilson’s seventh-place result was his eighth top 10 of the season.
The weekend concluded on Sunday with a DNF at Waynesfield Raceway Park.
“At Waynesfield the scoreboard doesn’t show all that happened all night,” he said. “We only made two or three laps in the feature. I think we had a pretty good car in the feature, but we got forced off the track. If I didn’t lift we’d have been tore up. I just about ate it and was more lucky than anything. You’re bound to have tough nights so we’re looking at the positive.”
Wilson will continue racing with the All Stars this weekend, running Friday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.; Saturday at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.; and Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis.
“I’m pretty excited,” he said. “I really enjoy going to Wisconsin. The race tracks seem to fit into my wheelhouse. The fans are great up there. It’s one of those places you look forward to going to a time or two every year. As far as racing goes our goals and mindset is to position ourselves to win them. I feel we have a good shot to run in the top 10 and possibly have a shot at winning.”
