(May 17, 2022) Making a quick jog south from this past weekend’s racing destination, the Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford makes its first of three appearances at 81-Speedway in Park City, Kan. on Saturday, May 21 to take on the AmeriFlex Hose and Accessories Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA Sprint Cars
Looking back at the 2021 season, 81-Speedway was on the lineup four times, with three of those finding a checkered flag. In last year’s matchup against the Oil Capital Racing Series on May 22, it was Sapulpa’s Danny Smith who grabbed the win. URSS shows on June 19, the night’s checkers belong to Tyler Knight, while Ty Williams took the win on September 18.
Unbeaten in laps led and victory lane visits with the United Rebel Sprint Series through the season’s first two events, Steven Richardson occupies the point’s lead going into this weekend by 12 markers over Jake Martens. Only 16 points removed, Zach Blurton holds third, while Taylor Velasquez and Luke Cranston complete the top five.
For the Oil Capital Racing Series, Saturday is the second night of racing as the tour kicks off the weekend at Tulsa Speedway on Friday, May 20. Going into the weekend, the tour is led by Blake Edwards by 19 points. Rees Moran, Terry Easum, Sheldon Barksdale, and Whit Gastineau make up the top five.
Saturday, May 21, at 81-Speedway opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for Senior and Miliary, and free for Kids 10 and under. The track is located at 7700 N Broadway in Park City, Kan. More information can be found online at https://www.81speedway.com.
