Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 11, 2022) – Jack Dover recorded a pair of 12th-place results last weekend while competing in two different sprint cars.
The action began on Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D., where Dover drove his No. 53 during the Midwest Sprint Touring Series event.
“The track was taking rubber in hot laps,” he said. “I put a new tire on for the heat and blew off both rears. I put on new rear tires for the feature, which was shortened to 15 laps. I only made it to 14 laps before I blew the right rear running second.”
Dover advanced from fourth to second in his heat race. He had maneuvered into the runner-up position after lining up fifth in the feature, but a blown tire at the end of the race dropped him to 12th.
“I snuck up to second pretty early on, by around Lap 5,” he said. “I know I was abusing my tires, but I figured they could survive for 15 laps. I could have taken it easier on the tires and finished the race, but I figured they could have lasted 15 laps. I just came up one lap short.”
Dover ventured to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday for his season debut behind the wheel of the Rick and Chris Bowers’ No. 81 sprint car. The team timed in 17th quickest during qualifying before advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from 15th to 12th in the A Main.
“It’s not what we were wanting, but it was the first night out and trying to get a feel for the car again,” Dover said. “We didn’t have it free enough so I was having to cheat the cushion in qualifying and the heat race. We switched gears after the heat once we had the car freed up so now we have a better baseline to start with this Sunday.
“The first half of the feature we were right there with Kerry Madsen. Toward the end our car faded a bit. I think we know a change to help that. It was just another learning night.”
Dover plans on piloting his sprint car this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at Off Road Raceway in Norfolk, Neb., with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. He will return to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday with the Bowers Family.
