Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Miss. (May 10, 2022) – Jordon Mallett has improved his feature result during each of his four starts this season, highlighted by a fourth-place finish last Saturday at Greenville Speedway.
“We’re rolling fine and I felt pretty good,” he said. “It was a little different than we’re used to at Greenville, where we’ve won races. We got the car a little better for the feature. If I would have made a few more changes differently we’d have been in the hunt.”
Mallett advanced from fifth to fourth place in both a heat race and the main event on the tricky track.
“I was a little too snug on the wall to get through the holes,” he said. “I had too much right rear in the car. The track was uncharacteristic. It was up against the wall, which we’ve won races up against the wall and right around the bottom and either hooked up or slick. With the weather they had earlier in the week it was uncharacteristically choppy against the wall. You had to keep the car loaded up and on the brakes to run the top. We were a little too snug to really get it to where it’d go. You had to enter really hard and against the wall to keep from getting slid.”
Mallett battled inside the top five throughout the feature before posting the fourth-place result.
“It was still a top-five night,” he said. “We showed up wanting to win like normal, but it wasn’t in the cards. We didn’t tear anything up so that’s a positive. It’s hard to be disappointed in a top five, but that’s not where we want to be.”
Mallett plans to join the USCS Series this Friday and Saturday at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla.
“We’ve won several races down there and normally can run pretty good,” he said. “It’s one of our more successful places that’s in the deeper south area.”
