Inside Line Promotions – Mt. POCONO, Pa. (May 9, 2022) – Joey Amantea is eager to return to Grandview Speedway this Saturday with a car capable of contending during the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars Series event.
Amantea has invaded the dirt oval in Bechtelsville, Pa., twice during his career. He ended in a B Main during a winged sprint car event in 2020 before advancing from 21st to 12th during a USAC East Coast Sprint Cars Series race in May 2021.
“The first time in winged it didn’t go well,” he said. “The second time we were in wingless and it also didn’t go as well as we wanted. It was super slick and hard to pass. I couldn’t see through the corners. But we’re running better this year so maybe it’ll be different.”
Amantea ranks fourth in the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars Series championship standings after earning four top fives and six top 10s in the first seven races of the season.
“Watching how we’ve been running with the fast guys compared to last year I think we’ll do better,” he said. “It’ll be a matter of track position.”
Last weekend’s scheduled season opener in a micro sprint was postponed for Amantea, who is still seeking his first opportunity to make some laps in his newly build micro sprint.
