After a one-week break Cole Vanderheiden returned to action on Friday night at Crawford County Speedway (Denison, Iowa) in the opening round of a three-race weekend.
After advancing to an eighth-place finish in his heat race, Cole lined up 15th on the feature grid. He would go on to pass three cars to finish 12th at the checkered flag.
On Saturday night the action shifted to Eagle (Neb.) Raceway. With 30 IMCA Racesaver Sprints signed in for action, Vanderheiden finished second in his heat race to earn the outside-front-row starting spot for the night's feature.
He raced in the Top-10 throughout the feature before ultimately crossing the finish line in 10th in his only second-ever start at the famed, 1/3-mile oval.
The weekend rounded out with a Sunday night trip to South Dakota's Husets Speedway. Twenty-eight Sprints were on hand for the program, and a fourth-place finish in heat race competition sent Cole to the main event.
After starting 16th, he finished 16th.
