A friendly Mother Nature greeted race fans and over 120 cars to the ‘Bullring’ for a gorgeous night of short track excitement as the Hometown Racing Association put night #3 in the books of the 2022 season. Some superb heat race action would set the table for Derek Doll, Chad Smith, Blaze Myers, Kyle Thomas, Kendall Hodge, Eddie Probst, Jacob McDaniel, Cruz Thomas and Leah Brightwell to waltz their way to the West Virginia University of Parkersburg Victory Lane on Saturday Night.
Pennsboro, WV’s Derek Doll would make his 2022 debut and serve notice for next Saturday Night’s 28th Annual Topless 50. Doll aboard the Doll Fabrication Rocket Chassis was set on kill and dominate the 25 lap Stutler Motorsports Super Late Model main event. Following Doll across the stripe in a very competitive high-quality field was Corey Conley, defending track champion Shawn Jett, previous feature winner Kyle Thomas and a very fast Cody Rogers.
The Tyler County Speedway would welcome the RUSH Sprint Car Tour to town for their lone visit to the ‘Bullring’ this year. Young Blaze Myers of Franklin, PA aboard the sharp looking 43JR would vault past early leader Chad Ruhlman to take his first Tyler County Speedway feature win. Myers pilots the J.I. McCall Construction/ John Pledger Roofing/ Billy’s Garage/ Linda Lou’s Restaurant/ Jen Morris-Mays Insurance/ Lowry Auto Body/ DiFrischia Recycling/ McDaniel & Assoc./ J.I.’s Place/ Jolley Roofing & Construction sponsored sprinter and was followed by Chad Ruhlman, Andy Priest, John Mollick and Tyler Newhart.
It was the 11th Annual Let It Ride 35 for the Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modified division presented by J&R Excavating and a quality field of 21 open wheelers would set their sites on victory. It was once again, Sardis, Ohio’s Chad Smith turning back all challengers to pick up his second win of the season. It would not come easy as a persistent Daniel Hill would try high and low to move around the leader and with a hail mary attempt in the closing laps would just fall short for his bid at the win. Following Smith and Hill across the line were NY’s Rich Michael Jr., Danny Thomas and KC Burdette in a quality field.
In the McClinton Chevrolet Mitsubishi RUSH Late Model division it was Pennsboro, WV’s in the KH20 machine picking up his first win of the season and becoming the 3rd different winner in the competitive division. Following Thomas to the pay window was Donnie Dotson, Michael Duritsky, Cole Petrelle and Hayden Jacobs.
Davisville, WV’s Kendall Hodge would break Steven Dotson’s stranglehold on the West Virginia University of Parkersburg Victory Lane in the Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod A-Main. The ‘Flattop Flyer’ would hold off Sonny Leek, Steven Dotson, Randy Kerns and CJ Dotson.
Third generation racer Eddie Probst in only his second season would drive a flawless race in the Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmod division to garner his first ever feature win. The New Martinsville, WV wheelman would pilot the Jim Dudley owned/ Dudley Motorsports/ Letter RIP Vinyl Graphics/ Hardrock Powder Coating/ J&T Paving/ Throwin’ Dirt Chassis to victory ahead of Steve Magyar, Tom Sigler, Mickey Thorpe III, and Kevin Dotson.
Picking up his second win of the season at the ‘Bullring’ was Jacob McDaniel of Belpre, Ohio in the Dual Threat Sport Cards 4 Cylinder division. While McDaniel would vault to the front, a real war was waging behind the driver of the McWilson Performance Cavalier as Bill Tennant and Devin Haley put on a show for the runner up spot. When the checkered flag fell it was McDaniel, Tennant, Haley, newcomer Bodey McClintock and Mike Todd rounding out the top five.
Kicking off the evening was Cruz Thomas and Leah Brightwell taking MWRA Mini Wedge main events. Thomas would go 3 for 3 on the season in the Junior division ahead of Josh Baldwin and Ohio Valley Speedway feature winner Bryson Long. In the Senior Feature event, Leah Brightwell would secure her first win of the season ahead of Bryson Roberts and Jake Casto.
