Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (April 18, 2022) – Greg Wilson posted a banner weekend during the Core and Main Spring Nationals hosted by Attica Raceway Park.

The Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed Seeling Motorsports driver recorded his best Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions result since July 25, 2019, on Friday with a second-place showing.

“I knew it’d been a while, but didn’t realize it’d been that long,” Wilson said. “I felt good and more importantly I feel like I’m getting the right people around me. I know how important that is.”

The weekend doubleheader began on Friday when Wilson timed in 17th quickest and third in his group, which started him on the outside of the front row in a heat race.

“From the first night of hot laps on I told Andy (Potter) that’s what we were missing in Florida,” he said. “We were trying stuff and we got back to what we were doing with a few little changes. I feel like, especially at the places we are familiar with, we have a pretty good deal going as long as we get through the first part of the night. We timed in better and we raced really good.”

Wilson captured a heat race victory to advance into the dash.

“When you unload and hot lap good and then back it up by timing good, especially for me when qualifying has been a struggle, you roll into the heat race with confidence,” he said. “We had an aggressive race with (Tim) Shaffer side by side and it was a lot of fun. We got to the dash and got more time on the track. We made a more adjustments for the feature.”

A fourth-place result in the dash lined Wilson up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“Andy and Joe did a great job and got me comfortable early in the race,” he said. “We fell back there early, but the race came to us. We gained a spot or two with issues guys had. Toward the end during the last couple of restarts and really in the final half of the race we were good enough to win. To run second and get a podium the first night out was pretty huge.”

Wilson returned to the dirt oval on Saturday for the event finale. He timed in 20th quickest overall and third in his group. A fifth-place result in a heat race was followed by a fourth-place finish in the B Main. Wilson capped the night by earning the Hard Charger Award after hustling from 24th to 11th.

“We made a pretty bold tire choice early in the night,” he said. “It bit us in the heat race and a little in the feature, but we were still able to come from 24th to 11th. By shortening the race 10 laps it was one of those things that didn’t go our way. That’s why we did it and took the gamble. We knew if we could just get in there they’ll have their hands full. But still in a 30 lapper we were coming on strong at the end, but we ran out of time. That’s part of racing.”

Wilson plans on joining the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., and Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.

“The Outlaws are always the gauge,” he said. “We’re taking a little different car and motor package this weekend. We know if we keep on the path we’re going it’s the right direction so we’re continually trying to learn.”
