COMP Cams Short Track Nationals Takes Moore to I-30

Howard Moore made the short trip to I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.) on Friday afternoon as the opening round of the 34th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires came to life.

Sixth-three competitors were on hand, and the field was divided into a pair of $1,500-to-win preliminary programs. Howard started his night by qualifying second fastest, which positioned him third on the starting grid for a heat race. He registered a third-place finish in the heat to lock into the seventh-starting spot for the 20-lap, preliminary feature.

He raced in the Top 10 throughout the feature and ultimately crossed the finish line in sixth.

On Saturday night a pill draw determined the starting line-ups for heat race action and Howard drew the pole of his heat and won it to lock into the 13th-starting spot for the 41-lap finale. The team had high hopes for the $10,041-to-win finale.

He ran as high as the 11th position before retiring late in the race to a 15th-place finish.
