(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) March 29, 2022 – A busy off-season full of planning, anticipation and excitement is about to come to an end for Austin Hartmann and the members of the Plymouth, Wis.-based 87A Hartmann Racing team as they will begin their quest for the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series Sage Fruit-Hepfner Race Products Top Apple IRA Rookie of the Year Award this Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
Hartmann, who earned the 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Awards, is eager to begin his rookie 410 Sprint Car campaign at the IRA and Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) co-sanctioned Morning Sun Farm Implement 410 Clash, which is expected to draw a strong field of 410 Sprint Car competitors from throughout the Midwest.
The event will mark Hartmann’s first appearance at the 3/8-mile semi-banked 34 Raceway clay oval, as well as his debut behind the wheel of 410 Winged Sprint Car.
“The 87A team is very excited to get the season started out at 34 Raceway,” Hartmann said. “After months of getting a new trailer set up and toter home ready, along with getting cars ready, we are ready to head down to 34 to start our rookie IRA season. The nerves haven't quite hit yet, but I'm very excited about getting back behind the wheel and experiencing a 410 Sprint Car.
“I wouldn't be where I am today without everyone that is a part of this team,” he said. “I'd like to say a special thanks to my mom, stepdad, and girlfriend, Caitlin, for their hard work doing the behind-the-scenes work. Also, I would like to thank my crew chief, Hunter, for his hard work getting the cars and trailer ready with me. With the learning curve of a 410, I couldn't do it without the help of Ozzie Weisner. He's been there to help with any questions I have and his ability to help with the engine is a big plus for our team.”
During the upcoming 29-race 2022 IRA 410 Sprint Car Series season, the 87A Hartmann Racing team is set to compete at 15 different tracks covering a four-state radius, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and North Dakota.
87A Hartmann Racing will be among the contenders for the 2022 Sage Fruit-Hepfner Race Products Top Apple Rookie of the Year Award, which will award $2,500 courtesy of Sage Fruit and a top and nose wing combo from Hepfner Race Products to the top IRA rookie.
In addition, the 2022 IRA Rookie of Year runner-up will receive the Apple Cup, which includes a $1,250 bonus from Sage Fruit and a Hepfner Race Products nose wing.
The 87A Hartmann Racing team has assembled a strong group of partners in support of the team's maiden voyage with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Series, including Kristine Hartmann of Pleasant View Realty, Shufflebotham Tree Service, Call Girls Motorsports, Pallet Works LLC, AF Inc., Bennett Transport Inc., SCA Inc., Gretchen Tillman New American Funding, Classic Title Services, CP Services, Cobblestone Landscaping, Jensen Sales & Services, Lee’s Color Studio, Dave’s Fabrication, RC Custom Design, Hepfner Racing Products, Pit Road Apparel, the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series and Sage Fruit.
