Amantea Starting Season Next Week With Micro Sprint and Non-Wing Sprint Car Races

Inside Line Promotions – MT. POCONO, Pa. (March 22, 2022) – Joey Amantea plans to kick off the 2022 season next week in two different types of race cars.

The action begins with a micro sprint event on March 30 at Shellhammer Dirt Track in Shoemakersville, Pa. Amantea’s first sprint car race is April 2 at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, N.J., with the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars.

“We’re all super excited,” he said. “With the acquisition of Brian Zyck as our crew chief we’ve completely overhauled our team. We have a new Maxim chassis with Smith Titanium that will be our 410 car. We have our USAC East Coast 360 car that has been turned around. We’ve changed a lot to make it better. I think that alone will make us leaps and bounds better than we were last year. We have a solid foundation that we can build on. Now we’re looking for results this year with top 10s each week, some top fives and at least one win.”

Amantea is also in the process of building a new micro sprint, which he hopes to have done in the near future.

“I’m waiting on the little stuff right now,” he said. “Once it gets put together we’re going to make sure everything is good to go for Kutztown, where we’ll run for points. We made the biggest race in the country in January with the Tulsa Shootout. That was a huge confidence booster for us.”

Amantea’s confidence is solid rolling into Bridgeport Motorsports Park, where he’s earned a top-five result with the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars each of the last two years.

“We ran fifth there at the end of 2020 and we started off last year with a third-place run,” he said. “Every time we’ve been there we’ve shown tremendous speed. I’m going with a mindset that we’re going to win. I know we are capable of being contenders. We have a lot of confidence heading to that track.”
