Inside Line Promotions – MERCED, Calif. (March 21, 2022) – Jason Sides will wrap up the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series spring swing through California this weekend.
The action begins on Friday at Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield before concluding with the SoCal Showdown hosted by Perris Auto Speedway in Perris on Saturday.
“We haven’t been to either track in a couple of years so I’m eager to get back to both,” he said. “We’ve had success at both Bakersfield and Perris so that always helps your excitement level when you’re returning.”
Sides charged from 16th to a career-best ninth-place result at Bakersfield Speedway in 2016. He also recorded top-10 finishes at Perris Auto Speedway from 2015 to 2017 with a career-best result of eighth occurring in 2017.
“The most important thing is to qualify well,” he said. “That’s an area that we’ve been struggling with this season and it has really buried us. It’s tough to put yourself behind so many good drivers and expect to pass four or five to make a transfer in either a heat race or the Last Chance Showdown. That’s the position we’ve found ourselves in so far this year. It really boils down to doing better in qualifying.”
The lone race Sides competed in last weekend was Friday at Merced Speedway, where he timed in 29th quickest before finishing where he started in a heat race – eighth – and the Last Chance Showdown – 10th.
Saturday’s event at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., rained out.
