RULES BULLETIN >> ASCS Right Rear Heat And A-Feature

DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (February 28, 2022) The Lucas Oil American Sprint Series has adopted a tire usage rule for the Right Rear spec Hoosier Tire that aims to help teams save money, and help with current tire availability issues.

The rule follows closely to that of the All-Star Circuit of Champions. For National Tour events, starting at the 2022 season opener, usage guidelines will be as follows:

The right rear tire used for Group Qualifying will be marked and must be the same tire used for Heat and A-Main events.

During the Heats and A-Main, the right rear tire may only be changed to replace a punctured, damaged, sliced, and/or out-of-round tire.

A damaged tire is described as a tire; flat on the wheel, deflated, with extremely low air pressure or other circumstance. Loss of air must be due to an apparent puncture, hole, slice, cut, tread separation, extreme tire wear, or similar situation.

Damaged tires must be replaced with the same compound or harder.

ASCS officials must be present when a marked/damaged tire is replaced. Damaged tires will be impounded by ASCS officials for inspection.

Any damaged right rear wheel may be replaced without penalty but must utilize the same marked right rear tire. If the tire is flat and/or damaged then the rules governing the changing of the right rear tire must be adhered to.

A damaged wheel may also be changed, with a replacement tire, during a caution period in the designated work area under the same stipulations as a right rear tire. A damaged wheel is described as bent or broken, bead lock bent or broken, broken or damaged center section. Malfunctioning bleeder valves or bleeder devices are not considered as a damaged wheel.

Any approved ASCS Right Rear tire can be used during C and or B-Main races.

If a new tire is fitted between Group Qualifying and Heat races that car will lose it’s time and start tail back of its heat. No passing points will be awarded. The car will only receive its finishing points.

In the event of a loss of a right rear tire during Group Qualifying, that car may come back out in the last set, but will only receive its first timed lap and can qualify no better than one (1) spot outside of the heat race inversion.

Any team that attempts to fit a new right rear tire prior to the A-Main to gain an advantage any penalty, including disqualification, is at the discretion of the American Sprint Car Series.

The 2022 season will mark the 31st year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.

For fans not able to attend, the series can be seen live on two platforms, with RaceOnTexas.com on FloRacing.com featuring National Tour events in tandem. Both are subscription-based sites. FloRacing.com is $20 per month, billed annually at $150 per year. RaceOnTexas.com All Access is $39.99 per month.
