Bryan Hulbert – DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (February 3, 2022) Taking on the ASCS Warrior and Sooner Regions throughout the 2021 season, Missouri’s Chase Porter will expand his schedule in 2022 and take on the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour.
The second driver so far to announce they will join the Brodix National Rookie of the Year chase, the 22-year old enters 2022 with 11-seasons of racing experience. Starting in Micros in 2011, Porter chased the small car scene full-time until 2018 with his first attempt in Sprint Cars as the Hockett/McMillin Memorial in Non-Wing competition. Focusing on Micros again until 2021, this year will mark the second entire season in a Sprint Car for St. Joseph, Mo. shoe.
On what was the deciding factor, Porter explained, “The first thing is we like Terry [Mattox]. I feel like he’s done very well as a promoter and, at times, in my books, has been underestimated. As far as everything else, the way the schedule was done it made sense to us, and I think it makes sense to a lot of people with what he’s doing with the money and the changes that will make the series better overall.”
Like any driver taking on a much larger and more challenging schedule, the goals are there to run consistently but obviously have that break-out moment and capture bigger and better goals.
“This year, if we can come out with a win, quite a few top fives and podiums, that would be my goal and obviously get Rookie of the Year. Right now, we’re going up against [Brandon] Anderson, and he’s going to be tough to beat.”
Taking his family’s Porter Steel Buildings/T&S Industries No. 2, Porter’s crew will consist of his father and Chase’s girlfriend for the full schedule. Depending on where they are, they will have some off-and-on help. Fans looking to keep up with Chase can find him online at https://www.facebook.com/chase.porter.50 and https://twitter.com/Chasepo2.
Chase would like to thank everyone who supports him, and the sponsors who have made this possible. They include Valvoline, Yellow Frog Graphics, Blue Knight Towing, Porter Steel Buildings, Tony Stuart Racing, and Larry Russell Tax Service.
The 2022 season will mark the 31st year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.
National Tour events are streamed live on http://www.floracing.com, with Regional Tour events on http://www.racindirt.com.
