Another run with the All Star Circuit of Champions was on tap Thursday for Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team at Volusia Speedway Park in ‘The Sunshine State’ before attention shifts to three nights to open the 2012 World of Outlaws season.
Warm and sunny weather presented a great day for racing as qualifying kicked off the racing program with the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter timing in 13th fastest among the 40 competitors signed in for action. Starting from inside row two of the first heat race ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ used the high side of the track to capture the lead and cruise to the heat race win.
In the 30-lap A-Main the MobileStar Maxim started outside of row four. As the field motored out of turn four to take the green flag Dollansky wasted no time getting to the front by rim-riding around the cushion to claim third by the exit of turn two. By the second lap the Big Game Treestands #7 raced past Danny Lasoski to assume the runner-up spot until the first caution on lap 9. With Dollansky continuing to work the top of the half-mile oval on the restart and leader Daryn Pittman down low, the duo raced side-by-side with ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ assuming the point on lap 10. From their Dollansky would extend his lead as the feature stayed green until the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7 swept under the checkered flag for the first time in 2012.
“This was a beautiful race track, these guys worked hard to get us a great track and Volusia is a lot of fun to race,” commented the native of Elk River, Minnesota in victory lane. “Anita Zwern lost her life earlier this year and we all miss her. She was probably the biggest fan of the World of Outlaws and sprint car racing in general. We got her decal on the car and know she was here with us so this win is for Anita.”
“What a great race. We started 8th so it wasn’t a gimme by any means these teams we had to pass were good teams so to come home first is awesome,” continued Dollansky. “My team of DJ, Luke, Brian, and Pete is a great team and I’m proud of these guys along with Tod Quiring of Big Game Treestands and Paul Johnson of Aggressive Hydraulics. We have such a great team and now brought on MobileStar and we’re happy to have them onboard along with our other sponsors Aeroquip, Integra Shocks, Maxim, and Morrison Motors.”
Three more nights of action at Volusia Speedway Park is up next for the Big Game Treestands #7 team to open the World Outlaws season.
