As the 2012 racing season is just kicking off in America, “Down Under” racing seasons are beginning to wrap up. No matter what country you are racing in, Astro Titanium is helping driver’s record victories. Nowhere was this more apparent than in Australia as Scott Glazebrook extended his lead in the Perth Motorplex Speedcar Standings in his midget. Back in the states, Damion Gardner was busy recording his first victory of the season with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla.
At Perth Motorplex, Glazebrook won two out of three rounds of racing during the Super Speedway event, with Astro Titanium on his racing machine. In the first round of racing, the Australian placed second. Then he went on to win the second two rounds. In fact in the final round, Glazebrook started in the third position before taking the lead and paced all 15-laps in the feature event. As a result, Glazebrook extended his lead in the Speedcar division at Perth Motorplex.
When the USAC Amsoil Sprint Car Series took the green flag at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., Damion Garner was on point to record his first victory of the season, after winning both opening rounds at East Bay Raceway Park in 2010 and winning two of three at Bubba Raceway Park in 2011. On Thursday night, Garner slipped past leader Brady Bacon on Lap-6 and led the rest of the way, despite Bacon pressuring him in lapped traffic. There were a few close calls on restarts, but Gardner was able to keep his No. 71 car up front.
“It’s just a great way to start the year,” Gardner said. “We have to keep it going, but it’s great to get this one tonight. There were a couple times I thought we weren’t going to get it, but we caught a couple lucky breaks, so it worked out well.”
On the second night of racing action Garner finished fifth and as a result ended the weekend second in the USAC Sprint Car standings. As the 2012 season continues, watch for Astro Titanium in Victory Lane at a race track near you.
