F.A.S.T. Championship Series Announces 2012 Schedule & The Return of the F.A.S.T. 305 Series

Its almost time to push start those engines again in Northern Ohio for the upcoming racing season as Fremont Speedway and Attica Raceway Park recently announced their slate of events for 2012. The Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title (F.A.S.T.) Championship Series presented by Engine Pro and KS Sales and Service is pleased to announce its 20-race schedule for what will be the fourth consecutive season of competition for the $10,000 to win championship for the 410 sprint cars. Also the F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series will return in 2012 after a one year hiatus.

"We're looking forward to our fourth year of F.A.S.T. competition at two of the premiere dirt tracks in the state of Ohio," said Bryan Autullo of the FAST on Dirt Inc. organization. "We re-evaluate our role at the end of each racing season and we ask ourselves if we are making a difference. We keep getting more and more positive feedback about what we have done and this winter we've had some new volunteers emerge to help us expand enough to include the 305 sprints once again."

The 2011 quest for the Kistler Cup will be contested over 20 events between April and September to see who will reign supreme in Northern Ohio 410 sprint car competition. Defending champion Bryan Sebetto has left the Burmeister Racing #16 to drive for the reemerged Hammer Motorsports #24H. The championship winning Burmeister team picked Sandusky, Ohio's Chris Andrews to pilot their #16 Maxim/Kislter Engines. Past F.A.S.T. Champions Byron Reed (2010) and Craig Mintz (2009) will be on a mission to reclaim their spot on top of the hill and the Kistler Cup trophy against the likes of Dean Jacobs, Phil Gressman, Mike Linder, 2011 Rookie of the Year Brad Haudenschild and many more.

"John Bores and Rex LeJeune have stepped up to the plate in an effort to increase the number of higher paying ($3,000 to win) events at Attica in 2012," said Autullo. "We are pleased that Bores agreed to put up additional money for those events in an effort to give back to the 410 sprint teams that support us. Attica will start 22 cars on those nights as well in an effort to help out a couple more teams at the pay window."

"We also have to thank Fremont Speedway promoter Rich Farmer for his continued support of the F.A.S.T. Series as well," commented Chris Kettman of the FAST on Dirt Inc. organization. "He continues to support what we're doing as an organization and has added a rain date for our series finale to help ensure that the drivers get to decide the F.A.S.T. title on the track."

"The F.A.S.T. series has handed out more than $90,000 in cash over three seasons to local race teams. These teams are the heart and soul of sprint car racing in Northern Ohio," says Autullo. "The concept behind the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title is to help out our local racers and hopefully offset some of the costs during the off-season. These guys aren't able to race for the kind of money that the World of Outlaws teams do. Burmeister Racing claimed a $10,000 paycheck at our banquet and that has helped them put together a new car over the winter months. Whether its cash or contingency awards that we pass out at our banquet, every little bit helps these guys to survive."

The F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series was started in 2010 as an effort to help out the 305 sprint car division with the additional resources that trickled down from the 410 sprint series. In 2011, the financial support just wasn't there to put together a similar point fund and it was questionable whether or not the series would return in 2012.

"Mark Keegan approached me at the fall swap meet and asked what it would take to bring back the series for the 305 guys," said Autullo. "I gave him a ballpark figure of what the minimum amount we would need to be. He went to work and collected that amount and more and thanks to his help we are excited that the F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series will return this season."

The 2010 F.A.S.T. 305 championship was won by Stuart Brubaker in a thrilling conclusion after seven teams started the night with a shot at claiming the series inaugural crown on the final night.

The 2012 Kistler Racing Products F.A.S.T. presented by Engine Pro and KS Sales & Service season is highlighted with nine weekends of back-to-back racing action at the two Northern Ohio dirt tracks and finishes off with two stand alone nights of racing. The F.A.S.T. 305 series will piggy-back the 410 schedule on 4 weekends, plus the two stand alone dates for a total of 10 points races.

The racing season in Northern Ohio officially kicks off with opening night at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, March 30th featuring 410 sprint cars, UMP DIRTcar Late Models and 305 sprint cars. Just a few short weeks later Fremont Speedway opens their gates on Saturday, April 14th with 410 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and dirt trucks before F.A.S.T. points racing begins on April 20th & 21st for the 410 sprint cars. The F.A.S.T. 305 Championship Series officially kicks off May 18th & 19th.

Before the engines roar to life, F.A.S.T. will kick off the season festivities with 2012 Racer's Chili Challenge, which features a charity poker tournament hosted by Hoserville Ohio, on Saturday, February 25th at the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame. Doors open at 4:00 pm and admission is just $5.00. Also be sure to look for the F.A.S.T. display at the upcoming mall shows in Bowling Green and Tiffin, Ohio and support those who go F.A.S.T. by purchasing some of the series' merchandise.
