PETERSEN MEDIA- Since taking the wheel of the Luch Monte owned No.17, Shane Stewart has gone through enough nights of bad luck that would make people wonder who they had wronged for such bad karma. Through weeks of hard work, Stewart and his team scored a wild win Wednesday night at Manjimup Speedway.
Stewart lined his machine up second, and shared the front row with fellow Monte Motorsports driver, Steven Lines.
The duo appeared to be the class of the field, but the race had it’s fair share of stoppages.
With several restarts, Stewart continued to pressure his teammate as they both utilized the high side of the speedway.
As lines banged off the cushion late in the race, Stewart was there to pounce, and grabbed the lead he would never relinquish.
A jubilant Stewart in victory lane quipped, “I’m just excited we could finally get a win together.” Stewart continued, “Luch Monte goes in for surgery tomorrow so I’m glad he can go in with a smile on his face. I can’t say enough about these guys for sticking with me and working through our bad luck.”
Stewart and his Monte Motorsports team rode their momentum through the weekend as the WSS invaded Bunbury Speedway for the weekend.
Friday night Stewart scored a 9th place finish, and Saturday night Shane fought a broken nose wing, and wrestled the car home to a second place finish.
ON TAP: Shane will be in action next weekend during the WSS Finale at the Perth Motorplex for the Grand Final on February 17-18th before retuning home.
