PETERSEN MEDIA- Cody Darrah and his Kasey Kahne Racing team took advantage of the All Star Circuit of Champions season opener in Georgia, as the Red Lion, PA native tallied a third place finish to close out his season opening weekend.

Darrah and his team hit the dirt on Friday night, and they simply didn’t have the results that they were looking for.

With 26 cars on hand, Cody timed in his Schroth Racing/Factory Kahne Shocks/Roth Motorsports backed entry in with the 17th quickest lap of the night.

The time put Darrah on the front row of his heat race with reigning Nascar Sprint Cup Champion, Tony Stewart, and the duo dueled in front of the field during the duration, with Stewart beating Darrah to the line.

Lining up 17th in the feature, Darrah searched around the track looking to move forward, but simply was marred in traffic.

At the stripe, Darrah would be scored in the 14th position.

Saturday night the team checked back into the Screven Motor Speedway, and had a complete opposite night.
The youngster got things started early as he timed in with the third fastest lap of the night during qualifications.

Lining up in the sixth row of his heat race, Darrah was able to work with Kasey Kahne Racing entry up into the fifth spot at the stripe, as transferred into the Dash and the feature event.

The dash saw Darrah start and finish fifth, and ultimately lined him up fifth in the 30-lap feature event.

When the race got underway, Darrah was able to maintain his fifth position as drivers fought for the bottom of the speedway.

On the 7th lap, fourth running Sam Hafertepe, Jr lost the hand and spun, nearly collecting Darrah, but he was able to dip low enough to avoid it and take over the fourth spot.

Following a lap 15 fuel stop, Cody began t0 apply heavy pressure to Terry McCarl for the third spot.

With eight markers remaining, Darrah moved his Kasey Kahne Racing No.4d machine slightly off the bottom, and was able to grab third and set his sights on Tony Stewart and Jason Sides.

As the race drew to a close, Darrah challenged for second, but settled for third behind Sides and race winner, Tony Stewart.

“Friday night was a rough night,” said Darrah. “It’s nice to start the season with a good run, but be tried some things that didn’t work to well. Saturday night was a great night, and a lot of fun. We were fast, and my KKR team gave me a great car. I can’t thank Kasey Kahne, Schroth Racing, Factory Kahne, Speedway Engines, and Roth Motorsports and all of our other partners for all of their support this year.”

ON TAP- Darrah will now how to Florida for the Dirt Car Nationals for more action against the All Stars before he kicks off the season with the World of Outlaws. He will be back in action of Wednesday, February 15th.
