Ryan Timms added another coveted win to his resume on Saturday night by topping the Trophy Cup at California's Thunderbowl Raceway in his Hampel Oil No. 5t Sprint Car.
His victory came over a talent-laden field of 80 entries.
Rolling off from the front row Timms narrowly avoided bad breaks for early pace-setters Kaleb Montgomery and Robbie Price. After taking over the top spot Ryan comfortably paced the field before withstanding a late-race charge from Tanner Carrick.
"(Tanner) Carrick, I'm not sure how he got by me, but he just got a run out of nowhere and got by me," Timms told SprintCarAndMidget.com of the battle for the lead. "Then we had a caution, and I got a good start, slid him, and I could just let it drift to the wall and bounced off it, and it just got me going and went from there."
With the win Ryan increased his 2021-win tally to 15.
"It was crazy to even think about winning this," Timms noted. "I was just hoping to make the A-Main, so to win it is pretty crazy."
