On the back of a successful IRA Sprints rookie campaign, Logan Julien and the Julien Motorsports team will be joining forces with Team 73 and Gibbsville Cheese for the 2025 season.
Julien piloted his family #85J car to an 8th place points finish in IRA competition in 2024 and secured the Apple Cup Rookie of the Year Award. The 16-year-old is also on the nomination ballot for the 2024 National Sprint Car Rookie of the Year award. Julien expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to pilot the car that won the 2024 IRA Championship with Scotty Thiel behind the wheel.
“I can’t really express how excited and thankful I am for this opportunity.” Julien said in a statement. “The fact that Oz, Fran, Gibbsville and the whole 73 Team are putting their faith in me for the 2025 season I think says a lot of what our family operation accomplished this past year. To be able to drive for a team that has so much history and success here in the Midwest is amazing and I think it will be a great fit for myself and my family.”
While Julien admits he’s still very much learning behind the wheel of a 410 sprint car, he also acknowledges the expectations that come with driving for a championship level team.
“There are huge expectations obviously. The team has a standard of winning races and competing for championships and that’s the goal for next year. Our tentative plan is to run around 10 races before the IRA points season kicks off, so hopefully we can get comfortable working together during those nights and hit the ground running in April with the IRA.”
Julien has plenty of championship winning experience, with numerous titles in Micro Sprints, Jr. Sprints and Karts. The Oconomowoc, WI native has nearly 100 career feature wins across multiple classes to go along with his 2023 MSA 360 Sprints Rookie of the Year award and two podiums in that season.
“Last season was a huge learning year for me and the team.” Julien admitted. “We really got rolling after the Indiana swing and started to make Dashes consistently and had a ton of pace. We had a few mechanical failures that cost us a ton of points and I made a couple rookie mistakes as well, but with the experience Oz and Fran have along with what we’ve been able to accomplish so far as a team I think we’ll be firing on all cylinders next season.”
Along with a full 410 sprint car campaign in 2025, Julien will also be heading back to the Tulsa Shootout in Tulsa, OK with support from Gibbsville Cheese. Last year in Tulsa Julien finished in the top 20% of all teams without running a single micro sprint race all season long.
“Tulsa was a blast last year, but narrowly missing a couple A Mains was tough.” Julien said. “We’re looking forward to going back this year to hopefully put Gibbsville Cheese in a big show or two!”
