ONLY APPEARANCE FOR OUTLAW 410 SPRINTS AT TWO TRACKS TAKES PLACE THIS WEEKEND AS BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINT SEASON HEADS TO OSHKOSH AND JIM FALLS!
July 20, 2016; Appleton, WI – The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints relationship with Mother Nature was strained a little bit more this past weekend as a planned double header consisting of events at Wilmot Raceway and Angell Park Speedway were reduced from two events to one.
While Wilmot Raceway successfully hosted a very special Founder’s Night event captured by Bill Balog the planned contest at Angell Park Speedway the following evening fell to weather. Soaking rains in the morning and the forecast for potential severe weather for cancellation of the event.
It was the fourth rainout of a busy 2016 season for the series, which consists of 34 events.
This weekend the goal is to complete the double as the shows will mark the only events to be held at the respective tracks this year.
It begins Friday Night, July 22nd at the Oshkosh Speedzone as the semi-banked third mile clay oval located in the southern Fox Valley area will start the weekend off. For the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Cars in what will be their first appearance in over a year. Last time the 900 horsepower winged machines visited the track it was Scott Uttech putting on a unwavering performance to earn the victory over two-time series champion Scotty Neitzel.
This Friday night the Sprints will be joined by the tracks own Modified special marking the
second round of the IMCA Modified King of the Ring series. The IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Stock Cars are also part of the big night.
Pit gates will open at 4:00pm, the grandstands will open at 5:00pm. Sprint car hot laps will take place at 6:00pm, with qualifying scheduled for 6:30pm. The first green flag is set to wave at 7:00pm
Adult admission for this special event is $20, with a student ticket available to those ages 11 to 15 for $10. Children ages 10 and under are FREE.
Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is a 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval located at the Sunnyview Expo Center which resides near the intersection of Highways 76 and County Trunk Y in Oshkosh. Fans and drivers can find additional details on the contest by visiting the track website at www.oshkoshspeedzone.net
Then the series packs up and heads West. Eagle Valley Speedway located near Jim Fall, WI will be presenting the first show of the season in West Central Wisconsin for the 410 sprints. The high banked 3/8 mile oval feature high speed action on a track where the straights have a roller coaster effect, heading downhill on the front stretch and uphill on the backstretch. The high banked turns are also ideal for as they result in the exceptionally high speeds obtained at the raceway.
It has been two years since the series last appeared at the track as weather had washed out the only scheduled event at the facility last season.
When the series last appeared in 2014 it was seven-time series champ, Bill Balog earning the rights to victory lane as he outran Mike Reinke and Travis Whitney.
This Saturday’s event is being billed as the tracks biggest show of the year at the track and in addition to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints, the raceway’s own WISSOTA Modifieds will be in action along with the track’s first ever Hornet Swarm special for 4 cylinder cars. The show will feature the first ever appearance of the Upper Midwest Sprint Series Traditional Sprints. The IRA sanctioned Wisconsin WingLESS Sprint Series will join the UMSS events that evening running under their own rules.
Pit gates are to open at 4:00pm for this year’s show with the spectator gates opening at 4:30pm. Hot laps are to get underway at 5:30pm with racing set to begin at 6:00pm.
