Jack Sodeman, Jr. on Top in Western Pennsylvania
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (July 12, 2016) – Entering the midpoint of July, Jack Sodeman, Jr. is at the top of the heap in the Western Pennsylvania sprint car scene. The nearby North Jackson, Ohio, native is currently in control of the sprint car point standings at Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park, earning a combined total of three victories thus far in 2016, most recently at Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, July 2, worth $4,000. In addition to his trio of victories, Sodeman has tallied 16 top-ten finishes, only finishing outside of the top-ten on four occasions dating back to April 15.
Sodeman recorded a podium performance during his most recent Lernerville Speedway visit, finishing second to Odessa, Texas, native Josh Baughman on Friday night, July 8.
“The weekend went pretty well I think. We’ve been pleased with our performances,” Sodeman said. “At one point, I thought we had enough to get around Baughman. It was going to be tough to pass him once he got to the front. Clean air and an open track can play as a huge advantage. Once we got to traffic, I had the opportunity to get around him, and we did, but I just couldn’t make it stick. We’ll learn from that and move forward.”
Despite initial plans to avoid “racing for points” in 2016, Sodeman has yet to ignore the possibility of a Western Pennsylvania sweep.
“Sure, we think about that kind of stuff,” said Sodeman, pilot of the Glassmere Fuel/Economy Tooling/ PRS Transit/ Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc./Butlerbuilt/Keizer Aluminum Wheels/Simpson Race Products/Triple X Race Components/No. 23Jr. “We initially planned to race an open schedule for most of the year. Our schedule has a few dates that conflict with point races at Lernerville and Mercer. We’ll see what happens.”
Other recent results for Jack Sodeman, Jr. include finishing 14th against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, July 9. Sodeman qualified for the 30-lap, $10,000-to-win, Lou Blaney Memorial main event by finishing second during his respective heat race. The second generation racer qualified 11th out of 39 entries.
