Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (May 4, 2016) – Josh Baughman is heading into his busiest weekend of the season as he will tackle four races in four days in three states.
“We’re going to four different tracks from 410s to 360s and big tracks to small tracks,” he said. “My guys get ready in the shop so we’re able to do this. To be able to do this you’ve got to have a good crew and I’m fortunate that we do.”
The action begins on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where Baughman will make his debut during the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“We’ve been trying to get to Lakeside the last couple of years, but it has always rained out,” he said. “I feel like we’re at our best at the bigger tracks. We just have to go in there and make good laps every time we’re on the track and I think we’ll be in good shape.”
The team will then swap to a 410ci engine for Friday’s National Sprint League season opener at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for the $10,000-to-win Dirt Classic I-80. Baughman recorded five top-10 finishes at the high-banked oval last season.
“We always run good at I-80,” he said. “With the 410 deal it’s kind of a warm-up for our 360 racing and since we go to I-80 in the 360s later in the year this will be a good test. My goal is to go in there and have a solid top 10.”
Baughman will return to 360 competition on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., for an ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region event. He earned a pair of third-place finishes at the track last season.
“I felt like the last time we were there we gave one away,” he said. “We’ve struggled a lot there, but we’ve got better every time we’ve gone back. If the track surface is right and we do our part I feel confident we can contend for the win.”
The weekend wraps up on Sunday at Double X Speedway in California, Mo., where Baughman garnered a runner-up result last year and an eighth-place finish in 2014.
“Double X is a fun place,” he said. “I go there for the atmosphere. It’s a little, tiny track. I love going there every chance I get. It takes me back to the grassroots of racing and how I got started in racing. With us being in the area I wouldn’t miss it.”
